Could it be your fan belt?
It might also be that it's not hooked up right.

There is a ground wire between the engine and body at the back of the engine or the passenger side in front of the motor mount. If these are missing or bad then the alternator will not have the correct voltage going to the battery to recharge it. This because the motor and transmission mounts are rubber and will act as isolation. You should have 13.8 VDC to 14.5 VDC on the battery terminals while running the engine at 750 RPM or better,

there is many reasons why the battery is not charging first confirm this by getting the alternator output tested with a simple meter. across the terminals of a battery there needs to be a reading of at least 13.5 volts if there is this reading or more the alternator is working and there will b a fault with the battery or wiring at battery or if there isnt 13 volts there is a fault with alternator or wiring or the regulator

There's a wire to the alternator that needs to have 12 volts on it for the alternator to work. On some models, the battery or alternator idiot light being bad can actually cause the alternator not to work, since the bulb is where the 12 volts comes from.

Belt not turning pulley (which turns the alt)
Bad wiring, wires not hooked up right.
Use a VOM to check the charge wire from alt to battery +.. Also check to see if your getting 12 volts to your voltage sensor wire on alt (this is also called the feild wire. It's like the on/off switch for the alt.)

Check your grounds. The alternator grounds through it's mounting and the battery should have a ground wire to the body and the frame. If these are lose or dirty ect... could be the cause of the problem.

perhaps it is a fusible link that has blown between the alternator and the battery. or it could be the regulator. check for continuity between the alt. and batt. also test the regulator. ibelieve it is externally regulated
