A lot of the medical offices/hospitals I have worked for require you be HIPAA certified (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act). That began in 1996 or 1997. Anyway, they just train you on what to do to keep patient's information private. You know how at hospitals they put the charts by the door to where you can see the names? Now you have to turn them around so the patient's name is not visible. Another way to keep info private is to have screen covers on computers and most offices wont even fax patient's personal info anymore.
