Hand-washing doesn't seem to get my bras as clean, but in the past, my machine-washed bras became lumpy and incorrectly shaped.

hand washing is more gentle on ur bras. all though i have found that if u close the clasps on ur bra before putting in the machine and dryer, they will keep their shape much better...

I've always machine-washed my bras and have never had any problems. Use a cycle that is either delicate or normal and put it on light so it is less time in the washer but still gets your bras clean. Then the key is to hang dry them, never put them in the dryer since the clasps can get caught in the back of the machine and get destroyed.

I always use a laundry bag when I wash my bras in the machine. I always hook the hooks together so that they don't snag on the material.

I never put my bras in the dryer! Drying them in the dryer is hard on the elastic and they will look dingy even if they are clean. The heat from your dryer makes the elastic turn dingy, and wears out the stretchiness in the elastic.

I think the dryer is harder on bras than the washing machine. I was mine in the machine but let them hang to dry. That seems to keep their shape.

I've machine-washed my bras for as long as I've been wearing them and have never had problems. I just throw them in an old pillowcase (why waste money buying lingerie bags when pillowcases do the same thing) in with my regular wash. I also do this with various other delicates such as loose-knit tops, fishnet stockings and tops, and lacy underwear.
Just don't wash them with jeans. They tend to make a wash cycle more vigorous.

Wash them on the delicate cycle in the machine but if you're concerned about lumps, there are bra balls available just for this. The bra washes but retains its shape within the ball. They are available now at most all the stores.

I'm a man and I'm going to answer this question because I do the laundry in my house. My recomendation is: Depending on the type of bra machine washing is generally OK but they should be washed by themselves on the gentle cycle because the hooks can ruin other clothes. Air dry if possible.

If they are every day bras, you can wash them on the gentle cycle or in a lingerie bag. You should wash your lace and fine lingerie by hand, otherwise.

As to the comments about bra hook clasps; they should be closed before you put them in the washer or dryer; that way they do not get bent or caught on other clothes.

I agree with you, hand-washing is not as good. I use a lingerie bag in the washing machine and hang dry them. The lady at Vicky's said that was just as good as hand-washing since it's the drying that can mess them up.
