There was an urban legend I heard in the late '50s about a guy during the Second World War who came up with a tablet additive to water that proved to be as efficient as petroleum fuel for internal combustion engines.

He demonstrated his invention for representatives of the military and the patent office. The car ran fine . . .

Nothing ever came of that and he disappeared into obscurity.

My guess is that it might have had something to do with his invention threatening a multi-billion dollar oil industry.

But then, that's just my guess . . .

It is said that the bed of the Detroit River is rife with the skeletons of people who have demonstrated engines that run 500 miles on a teaspoon of gas, or on water, etc.

Nobody wants people to eliminate war, strife, and profitability for Big Business, do they?

It's called a steam car, other then that, it would run on "hydrogen" the "H" in the H20. It can and has been separated now but, it's not quite ready.
