You mean like sweat shops? That would be pretty lousy if that story was true. Where's the proof? If so someone needs to take care of it.

To the perspective of the Chinese, their wages are relatively higher then any time in history and especially so when their employers are multinationals. One has to remember that in a socialist society, all except the party elites are slaves to the government so in that respect, nearly all Chinese are slave labor. But the real use of this term is based on the emotional response it evokes. The Chinese and many other peoples do not make anywhere near what laborers make in western societies and due to the global economic system currently in place, are able to make items at a lower cost then identical ones can be made in the west. This hurts the western middle class (although it helps the highly educated as more jobs are created then lost - high paying or low paying - just not middle class wages) and by misusing the term "slave labor", are better able to get their point across to the masses.

Perhaps this article may help from 200 when Yahoo traded it's soul to the devil in China....

Slave labor shouldn't come as such a big surprise when you look at the fine print of Yahoo's deal to do business in China, for that matter, an Company who's doing business in China.
Freedom of Speech is still a red crime.

I don't believe that they actually practice slave labor, but you might as well call it that considering how little they pay them for a long days work.
