Many of the guys in my club have gotten the HD shield tattooed on their lower backs right above their butts. I think its pretty cool but with so many of the guys in my club getting the same tattoo it may not be cool enough. We essentially all ride the same bike and wear the same outfits, so I guess it really doesn't matter too much - what do you all think?

Conversely, if you have to ask, you probably should get it.

Harley allready brands everything it touches, right down to the nuts and bolts. And you want to make sure that the riders are branded too? Dont they have enough advertising?

Yes I ride a Harley, no I dont think much of the bar and shield logo, especially as a tatoo.

Around where I live, those types of tat's are called tramp stamps. I would do something like the Harley shield with a custom touch on your upper arm or across your upper back or on your calf, not on your lower back that is a little to feminine for a guy riding the best bike out there........

I was in Cody Wyoming a few weeks ago. Black Harleys lined the streets, Harley dudes and fat gals wearing the Harley uniform everywhere. It sure felt cool riding around on my red sportbike. I kept joking to my girlfriend about how the town was filled to the brim with non conformists.

Yeah, if you are going to be a non conformist Harley guy, you need to get the matching tattoo.

Lower back tattoos are called "tramp stamps". They are for girls. So if you got one it would be pretty gay. Getting an HD logo would be pretty lame, too. You'll think it's cool until another situation like AMF comes around. Then you will want someone to take a cheese grater to your back. Design your own tattoo so you don't look like everybody else. Then put it somewhere manly.

Greetings your majesty,

I think you should buy a pair of trousers that fit you properly and stop flashing your Dagenham cleavage ( that's builders butt in the USA) at us poor damsels.

Do get a tattoo but elsewhere on your body would seem to be the popular choice - which is what you're into, right?

The lower back tattoo is a girl thing, go with your upper back between your shoulders or on your arm.

I think you should think for yourself.

Personally I would hate having the same tattoo as someone else!

I think you need a tat like you need another hole in your head. Interesting story though, a coworker who also is a firefighter had a 9/11 tribute put across his back (he's also a biker), and had the title "All Gave Some/Some Gave All" on it, and I said "Oh, I really like that song.". "Song?" he said, like dude had no idea "All gave some/some gave all" orignated with a song by Billy Ray Cyrus. I had the CD in my truck and I loaned it to him so he'd know where that line came from. Unfrickin' believeable to me. Here's the lyrics:

I knew a man called him Sandy Kane
Few folks even knew his name
But a hero was he
Left a boy, came back a man
Still many just don't understand
About the reasons we are free

I can't forget the look in his eyes
Or the tears he cries
As he said these words to me

All gave some and some gave all
And some stood through for the red, white and blue
And some had to fall
And if you ever think of me
Think of all your liberties and recall
Some gave all

Now Sandy Kane is no longer here
But his words are oh so clear
As they echo through out our land
For all his friends who gave us all
Who stood the ground and took the fall
To help their fellow man

Love your country and live with pride
And don't forget those who died America can't you see

All gave some and some gave all
And some stood through for the red, white and blue
And some had to fall
And if you ever think of me
Think of all your liberties and recall
Some gave all

And if you ever think of me
Think of all your liberties and recall, yes recall
Some gave all

Some gave all

I saw the girls with that stuff on their lower back, its girly.
I dont need tattoos to prove what or who I am because I ride.
I go my own road and have the most respect for others who do the same not follow the trends in fashion. you ride and thats good but find your own identity not wear all the others.

Gonna sting now but just look plain stupid when you are 65 and it is all faded and you most likely wont be riding anything except one of those Jazzy riders that's advertised on late night T.V.
