let me refrase that.... what are positives about the government

Government is a tool, you can use it wisely or foolishly. You need some sort of organization to do things like build roads or raise an army and navy to defend your people and your land, or to build water and sanitation systems...nobody in LA could afford to build his or her own aqueduct to the Sierras for water, thats pretty obvious. Nobody could afford to build his own highway from California to New York. Nobody could buy his or her own aircraft carrier to defend his or her own home. So you have a government do it. You just have to keep control of the government, don't let it do stupid things or waste money, citizens have to pay attention or you end up with a situation like the US faces right now, the war, the deficit, etc.
