I did. It was a bit hazy and I could barely make it out, remember, I woke you up so you could see it too?

I saw it LAST NIGHT. I was up really late with my telescope. (I have a 70mm refractor telescope.) I've never seen a lunar eclipse before, and I wasn't expecting much. I just figured it would look like a half moon. I was wrong! It was awesome, definitely worth seeing. I live in southern California, and for us it was a total eclipse! It started off as a dark shadow very slowly passing over the top half of the Moon. In a telescope, it was weird and a little spooky. It sort of looked like a half moon, except that you could still see the surface of the Moon as the shadow passed over it. Then, when the Moon was nearly covered there was a just a small patch of bright light where the sun was hitting on the lower left corner. It was really strange...almost looked like it was being lit up by a flashlight or something. I've never seen anything like that before. So you could actually tell the angle of how the sun was lighting it.
Then, a little after 3am, the Moon was completely covered and it had this weird kind of pinkish or light red color. I think that's caused by reflections from dust in the Earth's atmosphere. When the moon was totally eclipsed, the sky became super dark and clear and I got an amazing view of the stars. The conditions were great. I was looking at double clusters, the Andromeda Galaxy...it was awesome.
I stayed up so late that I actually saw the Orion constellation rising...and usually you don't see that until fall or winter.
