I think it is to long, I work with children with special needs and after the 6 weeks holiday it takes us about 4/5 weeks to sort out the behaviours that we had managed to sort out before they went on the long break but we don't have the same problem when they only have the 2 week breaks. I am also a parent and my son is bored rigid by week 4. Would much prefer the holidays to be spread equally across the school year.

Maybe remember that schools in the UK aren't all like this either In Scotland we have earlier summer holidays than England, usually 7 weeks, end of June until mid August We have October week in mid October, Christmas and New Year, mid term in Feb, and Spring holidays of 2 weeks around April time We don't have Whitsun either here holidays abroad are similar to England

It's far too long in my opinion.
The novelty of no school wears off after a few days, and my kids then seem to complain about being bored constantly, no matter how many activities and days out we have planned.
I'd much rather have a shorter holiday in the summer, and perhaps a few extra weeks off here and there throughout the school year.
Why not add an extra week to each of the current half terms?
Would be much better that way!

Its too long... I think they should split it, make it two three week holidays or three 2 week holidays lol
Kids get bored after about the 4th week anyway and as parents we've run out of money by the second week.... and finding free things to do when you live out in the sticks is difficult.
Holidays at home and abroad are dearer too, which makes life hard.
Luckilly, my kids are happy going out to play on their bikes or to the park etc, but these days a lot of kids aint!

i suspect larger families will have different opinions and look forward to schools beginning again but opinions will be varied on the individual(s) situation so doubt if we'll get a winning solution to this but personally i agree with you as there have been so many fed up children walking around lost these past few weeks and ones getting upto no good

As a child it wasn't long enough!
As a parent it was too long!
As the mother of adult children who as yet have not seen fit to present me with grandchildren I think it's OK!

No way, It's way too short. I think kids should get 3 months off after all of their hard work.
