I am not certain the US has the resources to send to equipment and people to help fight the fires. Financially the global community and specifically the US could do something to help. These fires are involving denser population areas than the fires we face here in America. While our fires result from lightning strikes, carelessness, and to a lesser extent arson, theirs are the mostly the result of arson or terrorism.

They have firefighters there, but not enough to deal with the scale of the destruction being faced. People are suffering in a disaster and we should not have to wait to be asked for help.

At the moment I am planning my own individual approach, finding ways to donate money, items and time.

Thank you for your financial help after Katrina. But why didn't you send national guardsmen to help stop the looting and manage the evacuation? That's the equivalent of what you are asking the US to do.

First, many of our firefighters are out battling wildfires in our own country. Second, we could move men there, but without their equipment, they would be of little help, and moving the equipment would be nearly impossible and take a month to arrange. Third, the USA will centainly send money to help with the recovery.

But we don't have any effective way to send manpower that would be useful.

Good night, and good luck.

I'm not sure, but I honestly can't remember Greece putting out US fires. I can't remember them sending money.

An ally is one that you are willing to support in case of war, not fires.

Doesn't Greece have it's own fire department? Citizens to put out their own fires? I just watched "300" the other night, heck, gather up 300 Spartans, and it'll be out by tomorrow.

You can bet that it's the republicans who would say such stupidities.

For us in Europe, the actual government of the USA is racist and unfair. The handling of Katrina in the black majority state of Louisiana and the humiliating treatment of visiting tourists by immigration airport officials in the USA, is giving a disastrous image of your country's domestic policies to the rest of the world.

It's a pity because you have a great country out there with many wonderful people and great gals with great boobs!!!...too bad that a bunch of dollar thirsty politicians should spoil the perfect american picture.

But the [dumm] republicans would respond...."who cares"...!!!! let me LOL!!

President Bush is too busy using all our resources for his stupid war. Don't get me wrong, I think you should be helped but why don't other countries come to the aid of the rest of the world? The U.S. is constantly having to be the "world emergency response." I just wish Russia, China, Germany, and other world powers would do their equal share.

where was Greece on 9-11?

where was Greece during Hurricane Katrina?

where was Greece during the wild fires all over the mid west and California?

where was Greece during the bridge collapse in Minnesota ?

where are the Greek soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan?

what has Greece ever done to the United States.

i bet you don't even here about all this on YOUR news.

NO WHERE TO BE FOUND.that's where

Conclusion: Greece is NOT our friend and don't deserve our help.

I would be really surprized if the US hasn't/ or isn't planning on sending some type of aid. We send money to everybody before we take care of our own problems for some crazy reason. The US gives money to everybody and I think you are probably misinformed or ignorant of US foreign policy.

*Why* do we have the responsibility to help you, hm?

If you read the fine print of the treaties we have with Greece, you will that "wildfires" is not on the list of applicable circumstances for assistance.

Oh! I see...you were trying to manipulate people through guilt. I keep forgetting that some people still try that, hoping that it will work.

Thank you for playing. We have some wonderful parting gifts for you.

When there trouble: Why isn't the US helping?

When were trying to preemptive: Why won't the US mind its own business and stop being the world police?

Make up your mind. If you want us in everything the understand that means everything. If you want us to be in nothing understand that means nothing.
