I drink about 4 glasses of wine a week on average. I have stopped smoking but sometimes fall off the ladder and have one. I just want to know from anyone's experience, will this decrease my chances of getting pregnant?

I doubt if this little bit of wine and the occasional cig will hinder the chances of your becoming preg. The most fertile time for a woman is in the middle of her monthly cycle - around the 15th day after the last period. There's a few days latitude on either side of this 15th day. This is the time when a woman is ovulating and it is then when she and her partner should enjoy as much sex as time, opportunity and "being in the mood" allow. It has been reported that women are particularly interested in having sex during their fertile time. And, of course, few men will turn down the opportunity for sex anytime. If you conceive, I hope that you and your spouse will have a wonderfully happy and healthy child.

You should really try not to smoke and drink. I mean, my dad drinks beer and stuff, but he doesn't get drunk. I'm not sure if it decreases chances, but if you do, it might have some unhealthy effect on the baby. Make sure you set a good example for them, and you should absolutely NOT smoke around a newborn. If you ever feel like smoking, and your child is with you, just think about their well being. It would probably help you not want to smoke.

its always best to stop s & d if your trying to get pregnant but honestly.. think of how many people become pregnant w/o knowing it and still s & d because they dont know theyre preg! as long as you plan on stopping when you find out i would say your good. another thing you could do is to start taking prenatal vitamins now that way your body can atleast save up on the important nutrients and things that ut needs for a healthy baby. good luck and hope you get preg soon!

yes it does. smoking reduces chances of a successful pregnancy b/c not only does it reduce chances of a egg to fertilize in the first place, it also INCREASES the chances of an ectopic pregnancy and of miscarriage.

As for drinking, it also reduces the chance of a successful fertilization. (it can also reduce sperm function). And anyway, if you're trying to get pregnant, you're not supposed to drink when pregnant b/c of serious harm to the baby and so take the chance?

But don't just listen to a bunch of random people here, see your doctor!

It won't decrease, but you can be pregnant and not know it, so be careful that you don't hurt the embryo that will grow silently inside you.
