Technically yes, but if we went by strict definition we'd have way more than 7 continents. New Zealand is on the Australian "continent" by convention, but it is really it's own continent, because it sits on it's own tectonic plate and is surrounded by water, so it is a distinguishable land mass. Many geologists call the area Oceania, and there are many, many technical continents, but we group them all into the continent we call Australia.

I think it was considered as an independent continent for a long time ago, but i heard in the news recently that it has been grouped to ASIA.

Yes it is, the continent's name is called Oceania but usually we just call it Austrailia because the entire continent is that country anyways.
