The course that most democrats seem to advocate is to begin a slow withdrawal that will not endanger remaining Americans and will give members of the Iraqi government time to either go into hiding or join the terrorists.
No one advocates the sudden unilateral withdrawal of all American troops, though that's what fox, limbaugh and the droolers on this site wish to believe.

The Democrats are just as much a pro-war party as the Republicans. The War on Iraq (and the War on Iran which the Neo-Cons are lying us into at the moment, as well as the War on Sudan that the Democrats desire in the name of "saving Darfur") will continue unless a true anti-war candidate (instead of a Democrat with a Nixonesque "secret plan to end the war") wins. It appears that Kucinich and Gravel will not win the Democrat nomination, so that leaves Ron Paul on the GOP side. Considering that he has massive support among Independents (the largest group) and 3% of registered Republicans and that his supporters are the most passionate of all candidates, as well as the fact that primaries draw a 25% turnout, Ron Paul may well surprise the Statist media and the morons who believe the media's propaganda, by winning the GOP nomination. If that happens, the Neo-Cons will not be happy, but they'll be able to look forward to 4 years of President Paul, the Champion of the Constitution.

Of course no Dem candidate will yank all the troops out immediately. Dems don't think that...unless they wanna vote for Kucinich, Mike Gravel (look at their numbers...). Even far left Obama has said he'd pull them out over time.
There's simply NO chance a large number of troops will be in Iraq at the end of a Democratic presidency. Perhaps you should listen to what they have to say before you mindlessly bash them.

1.) Because that is what the candidates are saying in the debates.
2.) If Hillary keeps the troops in, the Democrats will do a 180 and support her decision.

People think Democrats want to pull the all troops out immediately because they believe the "cut and run" rhetoric of the Republicans.

She will have to contend with a Congress more responsive than we have seen lately to the will of the people. She will be reqjired to pull troops out as they would have no funding. Why is it people think ONLY the president runs this country. The last I heard we still have a democracy.

Hillary won't win. The left wing liberal candidates are all promising to pull the troops out. They think that will get them votes and contributions from the left wing liberal loonies.

Two hypotheticals.......it's impossible to "pull out immediately." It takes time to collect equipment and transport it and the troops. Take the amount of time it took for the buildup to war and multiply by two.

I think 4 years is a conservative policy. War war war but liberals will need at least 1.5 years to pick up the peices, do our best to help amalgamate a new government and then slowly withdraw.
