Size Of Vietnam

Vietnam and California are both coastal and about the same in size in the length of the country. California has much more territory and size but if you look at them on the map they appear similar in length. The appearance is deceptive. From the northern most point in Vietnam to its most southern point is 964 miles as the crow flys. From CA.'s northern border to the Mexican border is only 765 miles as the crow flys. I think your teacher might be giving you a trick question. New Mexico is probably the correct answer but give her the answer with both Ca. and New Mex and you might score some extra points. Just explain the difference.

Vietnam is about 1/3 larger than Minnesota and has about 20 X the population. I find that factoid fascinating.

Cori is right about the area. Vietnam is closest to New Mexico in total area.

Ong Jon is almost right about the coastline. Vietnam's coastline is about the length of California and half of Oregon's coastline put together.
