Last week I had a very minimal amount of spotting. I went to the Dr first thing the next morning. I have had no further spotting and I never had any cramping. They did an ultrasound and said everything looked ok and the baby had a strong heartbeat. I was sent to get blood work to measure my HCG levels on Thursday and Saturday of last week. Mr nurse called me today and the Dr wants to see me Thursday b/c they said my levels did not double like they should have. She said it may be possible that I may miscarry. I am not having any cramping or any other symptoms of a miscarriage. I know only a DR can tell me but I would really like to know if any one has an opinion or any advice for me. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Today I went to the Dr and she did another ultrasound. The baby is growing and still has a strong heartbeat (179 bpm), but she sent me to get more blood work and she is concerned because my HCG levels actually went down. I am really confused because she said everything looked great on the ultrasound. I also read that after 10 weeks your levels do drop and I am 9w and 2d. She put me on progestarone in hopes that my levels will increase. Has any one else had any experience with this before? Most people say I should trust the ultrasound more than the blood results. I am really worried.

When you think about it there really isn't anything you can do but to relax. Rent some movies, put your feet up and keep your mind off of it.

The only thing you can really do is to stay in very close contact with your physician. There's always a possibility that the HCG results are not correct, so another blood test might be advisable just to double check. Also, if you do miscarry or are on the "borderline" you should ask your doctor if she knows of any emotional support systems available to women in your difficult situation. Too many people think that a miscarriage is something you can just take in stride and get over right away. These people are wrong. Make sure you have a good support network, which should include your spouse and the women in your family.

When I first went to the doctor we thought I'd be about 3 weeks because of my last period which was only spotting...you know, what you had going on...but we found out that I was 7 weeks and 5 days on the ultra sound....so that means that I had some spotting on my week 4 or so...yeah, I was very concerned about a miscarriage but my doctor said everything looked fine and the heartbeat is the first sign for a strong baby...it seems like your baby is just fine...it is better to count on your doctor's answer and advice of course, but I would not worry about it, you're almost ten weeks and like you said, the HCG levels are supposed to drop, so don't worry too much ok? it's not good for you or your baby. Calm down and both of you will be fine. If you believe in God, pray to God, Thank Him in advance for giving you a beautiful and healthy baby. Good luck! and congrats!

With my first miscarriage, I had cramping and all the symptoms of an eminent miscarriage.

The 2nd one, I had no symptoms. I just didn't feel pregnant. It was weird. I woke up (week 10) and didn't have sore breast and something I could never put my finger on. I just felt not pregnant. Then a day or so later I started to spot. Ultrasound was good. I stopped spotting but a week later, I started again. Then I miscarried that night. No cramping, no nothing. Just spotting.

If it's going to happen there is nothing that can be done to stop it. It's heartbreaking and it's really hard knowing it's going to happen.

Hopefully it's nothing and you will be fine.

I wish you well.....

Well they did that to me to when i was 9 weeks or so and my levels never jumped either. I ended up having a D an C because my body never miscarried. Im so sorry. Keep your hopes up though. They may have your due date off and maybe thats why your levels arent as high. But just so you know there isnt much you can do about a miscarriage, its all up to your body. And remember its nothing you did, its more common than everybody thinks. Good luck Email me if you have any more questions.

My s-i-l had 2-3 miscarriages and changed drs. This dr. gave her progesterone, too, and it was just the thing. Healthy baby girl.

A tiny spot of blood is no big deal, but the blood levels are. But having the dr. give you the progesterone will boost your chances of having a healthy baby. And baby's heartbeat was nice and strong, so that's positive, too.

I pray that you have a strong and healthy baby!

I think you should take it easy... I started spotting at about 7 weeks... Doctor said that as long as it was just spotting it was normal... It's your body changing... Although your HCG level did not double like you say they told you they should have, you need to let a doctor assure you of what's going on... as long as your baby has a strong heart beat you should be fine... Don't stress yourself out... It'll only make it worse... Think happy thoughts of that wonderful little being that you are carrying inside... :o) Hope everything turns out just fine...

When I was pregnant with my first baby, I had horrible back pain... but everything was fine and she is almost two now. I had a miscarriage in April this year, and I had moderate back pain for about 3 weeks. I woke up feeling like I was in labor having contractions... and I had my miscarriage. So my advice to you is if you ever have any back pain get to your doctor as soon as you can. You never know what could be happening to your body or your baby.
