The only bearing in a cylinder is the connecting rod bearing and if that is bad the engine should not be driven until it is repaired which can mean a new engine. Look elsewhere for trouble.

I'll guess you are talking about a rod bearing. That is why the guy is selling the car. He doesn't want to drive it and he doesn't want to fix it either, because it will cost a bunch of cash to get it right again.

Plenty of cars out there, why not take a look and see what else you can come up with?

If you do decide to buy the car, beware that you are going to have some high rebuild bills in the near future. If the rod lets loose, it could come through the side of the block. You had better want that car reaaaaaal bad.

good luck either way.

After 30 + years in the mechanic field I have to assume that
what some one called a cylinder bearing is in real life a cylinder rod bearing, and if the engine has a bad rod bearing it isn't save to drive around the corner. When they fail they ruin
expensive parts like cylinder blocks, crankshafts etc.....

I have no clue what a "cylinder bearing" is, and I've been working on cars over 30 years. Bearings are used to reduce friction and prevent direct contact between two moving parts. Any failed bearing can be bad, especially in an engine.

not a real good idea this is a major problem the cylinder bearing connects to the crankshaft and if it breaks it will do damage to the engine block and then its call the tow truck time.
If this is really the problem there more than likely more damage than just that due to an oil supply problem.

that means the engine of the car will require rebuild soon. You can drive it, eventually the engine compression would get weaker and weaker. Since engine rebuilding would run around $2000, I would stay away from this car.
