Was it rude of the server at Shari's Restaurant to cop an attitude at me when she was walking by me and I've asked her that if she had a moment would she give me a refill on my drink and then she would cop an attitude at me telling me that she was busy cause she was on her way to serve another customer?

As soon as my server copped an attitude at me my face instantly turned red and I've felt humiliated by her attitude, then she later apologized for her attitude and she told me that she doesn't like it when people are calling her when she's on her way to help another customer.

Plus another issue I have is that they give you your bill soon after your food arrives and none of the other restaurants do that, unfortunately the incident happened at around 10:30-11:00pm on a weeknight and she was the only server there

Yes it was rude for your server to be ignorant to you. As a server your job is to make the guest's experience as good as possible. You do have to remember that being a server isn't as easy as many people make it out to be. But sometimes you do just get bad servers who aren't very good at their jobs and are just ignorant... this however is rare. If you are nice to your server he/she will be nice to you.

Make sure that when you are trying to grab your server's attention you do it in a respectful way, please do not snap, whistle, yell, make rude gestures or make ignorant comments to us, when you see your server just ask if they can help you when they get a moment.

Often times restaurants make it a rule that you have to give guests their checks when their food arrives because if they are in a hurry or if the server is busy you don't have to wait for your bill. Servers should not and normally will not give you a problem about adding things to your order, this only increases the amount of the check and the amount you should be tipping on.

The other issue is that it was 10:30-11 at night. Customers need to be aware of the time the restaurant closes. You wouldn't like it if we came into your job shortly before your shift ends and make you stay there longer than you had anticipated. Not only is this inconsiderate of your server but also of the kitchen staff who need time to clean and close the restaurant. A good rule of thumb is to check or ask when a restaurant closes, if you arrive late at night, if you arrive 30 minutes or less before they close then its best to choose somewhere else to eat. Remember that restaurant needs to be cleaned, and prepared for the next day of business before employees can leave.

Yes, this would be considered poor customer service. As a server, your job is to answer your customers questions and needs promptly. If you are on your way to another table, you should alert the patron that you will take care of them promptly.

Complain to the manager of the restaurant. You might get a free meal. I'm sure that others have received the same treatment by the server.

Whoa! If I were you, I'd ask to speak to her manager! That would give her a message unless she's an idiot. No matter what, waitresses/waiters are not to cop an attitude or TALK like that either. They will just have to take a mental note after they service the customer and then return to you. Yeah, no tip for that one either! I have found that most people at Shari's are friendly. I did have a couple that seemed slow, got less tip. n

Yeah, under ordinary circumstances it would be rude. However, she did apologize... As you pointed out it was late at night and the fact that she was the only server on duty, she was probably in a really lousy mood (who wouldn't be in a situation like that). So on that point, I'd say give her a break. Although, indeed she should have bit her tonguem but hey, she's only human.

As for putting the check on the table as soon as your food arrives: that's likely company policy as a way of getting you out of there and another paying customer in.

Ok, she's the waitress and it's her job to "serve" the customers and she cops an attitude with you when you ask her for a drink refill???????

Uh yeah, that's rude and she needs to find somewhere else to work if she doesn't understand the requirements of waitressing. You are SUPPOSED TO WAIT on your customers and see to their dining needs...H-E-L-L-O-Ooooo.

I hope you didn't leave her a tip anyway. Sometimes it takes a rude awakening (if you'll pardon the unintended pun) to make some people realize that they are the ones failing their customers.

that was most definately rude of her. just because you are not her only customer does not make you any less important. you are still her responsibility to take care of.

as for the early bill, yes most rude, she was basically saying "hurry up and eat so i can get out of here"

i would not go back to that restaurant.
