Alimony is not needed in this day and age, as it is necessary for each ex-spouse to have a job in order to get by. Unless there are children involved, the exes should not need to exchange money each month.

My mother never asked for alimony from my father when they split almost 3 decades ago- all she wanted was child support. I am very proud of her decision.

Child support is based on his income, not the money she is receiving. So, if he has had a pay increase from when the support was ordered, then there is a chance that she could get more.

You're asking a question and I would pay my ex wife alimony, but that's just me. I have too much pride to have a woman pay me support.
