What are you tring to do... Sovle for A
8/5 A is reduced down
look at it as 1a + 1/5(a) + 2/5(a)

Not quite sure what you are looking for but...
a + a/5 + 2/5 a = (8/5 a) or (1 3/5 a)
you can solve this question by having a common denominator
for all of the numbers. Make all of the numbers to have a base of five. Since a/5 (a/5 may also be made as 1/5 a)and 2/5 a already have a base of 5, only a must be made to have a base 5. Since you may not change the value of any number, first think of a as 1a (the one is implied). To keep the number as equal to one, you can make it into a fraction of 5/5. If you divide 5 by 5, your answer is one and therefore the same 1 = 5/5. Substitute 5/5 for one to make the equation to be:
5/5 a + 1/5 a + 2/5 a
Then add the fractions together by adding the top numbers (numerators) to give you 8 and put this over your base of 5 (don't add the bases). This results in:
8/5 a
You may then further continue to work with the problem. Since there is a whole number, you may separate the number into two fractions: 5/5 and 3/5. As already explained, 5/5 equals 1, so you can write this question as:
1 3/5 a (one and three-fifths a)
if you are trying to expand the second and third questions then...
18(2 1/9) = 38
to expand this, you must either make the fraction inside the brackets to be 19/9, the first answer explains how, and multiply by 18 to give 342/9, which when divided, equals 38, or you can multiply 18 by 2 and then 18 by1/9, which results in 36+18/9(or 2)=38
5(6m + 4n -3n) = 30m +5n
first, simplify what is inside the brackets (6m + 4n - 3n) by combining like terms. 4n and -3n are similar and may be combined by the two terms 4n - 3n = 1n or n. if this confuses you, think of it as n+n+n+n-n-n-n, which is equal to n. Then, multiply the contents of what is inside the brackets (6m+n) by 5. Each term inside the brackets must be multiplied by 5.
5*6m + 5*n
This can be simplified to 30m + 5n, which is your answer

With the expression 5(6m + 4n - 3n), you just distribute.
In other words, you break it up and multiply all terms in the parentheses by 5. For instance, 5 x 6m = 30m, 5 x 4n = 20n, and 5 x -3n = -15n. Therefore, you put it all together and get 30m + 20n -15n. Now you combine like terms. 20n - 15n = 5n.
Your final answer is 30m + 5n.
