I'm 45 business woman and I work as H.R. manager in a big multinational company.
Some months ago, during a big convention in an exotic location, far away fro any hospital,I had to suffer terribly because of kidney stones.
After hours of excruciating pain and nobody who could help me, in spite of all my efforts, I didn't manage to fight back the tears and I started silently crying in front of many of my colleagues.
I felt very embarassed...
What do you think?
How old were you last time that physical pain made you cry?

Absolutely not! I mean it's not like you were bawling... OK, I admit crying in front of someone can be pretty embarrassing, especially when you don't have a shoulder to lean on but just know that you are not the only one who's felt that way and there are millions who've probably bawled their eyes out for reasons less serious than yours in front of the general public. Like because of a break-up for instance. I think it's acceptable for you to cry because of physical pain; you can only hold it in for so long, depending on your pain threshold. So don't feel too bad.

It's been a couple of years for me. My stomach was hurting so bad. All I could do was lie there and wait for the pain to go away. And yes...I cried! Eventually, I went to the emergency room and found out that I had an ulcer. OUCH! Personally, I don't think age plays a factor when it comes to pain. If something hurts and there's nothing you can do to make the pain go away, I think it's only natural that you would cry. I have always heard that kidney stones hurt very badly. It's enough to bring a grown man to his knees, so I know this wasn't easy for you at all. Don't be embarassed b/c you know how you felt. Crying is just an emotional thing. You were hurting and there was nothing to ease the pain. Did your colleagues know you had kidney stones? If they did, they probably knew why you were crying. If they didn't know, they were probably more concerned than anything. I wouldn't worry about it at all. Besides, there is nothing you can do about it now. So put it all behind you, and move forward.

No wonder you have kidney stones. You push yourself too hard. What in the world were you thinking?????

Pain is your body's way of saying,'Hey! There's something wrong....'

You ignored this, and attended a bussiness meeting? Are ya NUTS?! Is your money and job status more important than your life? As for the crying thing...I don't even know how to respond. I can't believe that you think this would be an issue. But, once again, I have to question your judgement. You were in so much pain that you were crying...and yet you were sitting in a meeting?

Take better care of yourself....

I think your colleagues were more embarrassed than you were.
I bet nobody even questions you about that incident.

I am 42 an extreme athlete and tattooed.I cried 2 weeks ago when both my legs went into a muscle spasm and I could not move.
I lay in my hotel room screaming because I could not reach the phone to call for help.20 minutes later the night duty manager came in with a security guard and a few guests in tow.
The next few days after that I had people coming to me offering me strange and wonderful remedies..2 still email me to check on my condition.

take care..and yes I'm feeling better thanks :)

It is adorable when a woman cries. It is not acceptable for a man to cry even under extreme torture. I am a man and physical pain never makes me cry. I tore ligaments in my ankle and was pale as a ghost due to shock, but I did not cry. As a teenager my skull was split open by a fall but I did not cry. Touching movies make me cry a lot.

It makes sense that you'd feel embarrased, anyone would, but I'm sure they understood your situation. Some of them have probably experienced the excrutiating pain of kidney stones first hand. I wouldn't worry about it or even mention it. People quickly forget that sort of thing, anyway.

Not that i agree with this, but according to society's standards if you are a women it is OK. If you where a man it would not be acceptable.
