Let EBIT = x
x / 150 = (x - 150,000) / 60
2x = 5x - 750,000
3x = 750,000
x = 250,000
EBIT = 250,000

Well you can start by getting rid of the 60,000 on the right hand side by multiplying 60,000 on both sides to get:

60000/150000EBIT = EBIT-150000

Then do the division to get

0.4EBIT = EBIT - 150000

Then just move terms around to get

EBIT - 0.4EBIT = 150000

Then its just

0.6EBIT = 150000
EBIT = 250000
