Have you tried logging into the router's setup page? There should be a sticker on the back/bottom of the router with the information, including the default login and password. The setup page should be 192.168.1.1, and the WEP/WPA settings under "Wireless Settings". If someone changed the password, you can reset the router to factory default by taking a pen or something like that and hitting the little reset button on the back. Just be sure you have all the information to set up the router again!

Access the router by typing 192.168.1.1 (that is the usual address) into your browser. I think Netgear logins are /admin for userid/password. Go to the wireless tab, and select the encryption to WEP.

If you cannot access the router at all, there should be a small "reset" button. You will probably need a pencil or ball-point pen to push it for about 5 seconds; this should make all the lights on the router blink. This will restore the router to factory settings.

Just follow the instructions from Netgear's website.

They are quite easy to follow and will enable you to change the settings.
