I have a new monitor capable of 1680x1050, but when I plugged to VGA port of my dell 700m, with video intel 852/855GM, I cannot get the native resolution to work! so frustrating... I tried among others, refresh force, the IEGD drivers but so far no success.
Does anybody can please help!
Thanks

ur monitor depends on the graphics card to display a resolution. your graphics card is really really old, try upgrading it with an ATI card

As limited as that Intel chip is, it should be able to run 1680 by 1050.

Update the drivers from the Dell or the Intel web site, make sure that the refresh rate is set to 60 Hz, and try again.

If all else fails there are plenty of low end ATI or NVidia (real graphic chipset manufacturers) base graphics cards out there that will perform much better than the Intel. If your monitor supports DVI-D then a new card with a DVI connector will give a much better picture than the Intel too.

The 700m is a laptop so it is really not designed to display past what its native resolution is

The Inspiron 700m has a vivid 12.1-inch, wide-aspect display with a 1,280x800 native resolution, perfect for watching DVD movies and big enough to work

So I think you are stuck with that!
