The problem will be that you will need to recharge the refrigerant in the system and the EPA forbids selling that refrigerant to non-professional installers. If you had the refrigerant you would need a vacuum pump re-filler to take out any old refrigerant, verify there is no leak, and then add the right amount of new refrigerant.

And that is not counting the fact you might have to pay $500 for the evaporator.
