Aol piggy backs on a DSL or broadband connection that you will have to get separately. Thus paying for "AOLbroadband" and high speed internet(either cable or DSL) at the same time. If you must have the AOL community and other features AOL offers then you will need this, otherwise I say just get a broadband connection like Cable or DSL, and you'll be surfing the web...

You can't say AOL is a good Broadband. Broadband is the other word for DSL or Cable Connection, or High Speed Internet. AOL is the Dial Up Connection, which is the slowest connection for networking. So if you're talking about Dial Up, Aol, I would not recommend to use that connection.
Good Luck,

NOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!1 stay away from AOL, it is AOHell. They will get you so angry that you want to throw something thru a window. I had so much problem with AOL, sh*t, I just don't want to even think about it. I'm assuming your Grandma doesn't cuss, well AOL will make her use the F-word, so stay away from AOL. When I switch to AT&T back in 2004, (SBC back then) I was much happier, still have problems with AT&T, but at least it's understandable. I like what I have now.

I don't ahve any experience with AOL, but from what I heard, it isn't all that great! I would try something like:
http://www.speakeasy.net/
http://www.satellitefamily.com/?OVRAW=huesnet&OVKEY=hughsnet&OVMTC=advanced&OVADID=12441297511&OVKWID=60843320511
