I recently bought some shoes at payless and I really like them. But the elastic heel is diggin' in something awful. I am thinking about cutting them so it's not so tight, but was wondering if there was something else I could do? Thank you for your advise!

You can see them at this address:

You can try Vaseline on the threads/edge of it to soften it up and keep it from cutting you. Or you can get a shoe stretcher from the shoe store, just don't stretch it too much.

Another option is big bandaids inside them or on your heels.

Those are really cute shoes =)

Are you talking about ballet shoes, or ballet flats? If they are ballet shoes, then the elastic does't go in the back. It goes over the top of your foot.
If you are talking about the ballet shoes with an elasticized back (something different,) I recommend band-aids until the shoe is broken in.
The same goes for the new shoes called "ballet flats."
