I know her, she is an old Journalist with some communist backgrounds.
She pretend always to know about religion and in the past she pretended to know about politics and went to prison many times. I think some people who spent sometimes in prison for political reasons, they think themselves know everything while they are just people who use to move in any opposite direction.

Yes I agree with you, she [betifty] specially in things she doesn't understand.

Edit : For any one who doesn't support [Hegab] or don't like it. You have the right to do what you believe in and you may not be convinced of hegab. May be also you delay it or you don't care, but if you try to change a clear and important command which is written in Quraan clearly ... this is wrong and you should expect many people will be against you and your opinion. Still you are free even to convert to any religion but try to change a clear command, we have the right to be against you and defend what's written in Quraan. I hope you got my point.

Moonrise, you are not god to judge people as hypocrites or not, you dont know her intentions or inner wills, leave the judging to god.
Who wants to wear hijab fine, who doesnt its his responsibilty, she is fine with it and she tells people it is fine so its ok for her, but dont say she is a hypocrite, she may be stupid but hypocrite is the biggest thing someone could be negatively judged with and there are many stories from the prophets friends and followers which taught us not to judge people, if you say she is a hypocrite, then i think it is better that god will assign you as an investigator for people, good luck

Amen to kalooka and Sa7ar
Why r u making a big deal of it? .. let her say whatever she likes to say and debate her with the evidences .. that is what the Quraan orders us to do .. not to stone her or behead her!
She is not an apostate for saying that, may be she is wrong.. may be she is right , but she has another opinions about the freedom and rights of women which are totally right

I read all her articles and i like them especially when she defends the woman rights in Egypt !
Why all this fuss?
Is Islam only restricted to the few hairs over my head?
Is Islam only the appearance?

That is pathetic really to leave everything in Islam and debate plucking eyebrows haram or halal and wearing the wegs haram or halal!

Edit:
I remember once a man tried to haress me on walking in the street saying to me (ما تتحجبي بقي)
lol that makes a sense haressing me cuz of my exposed hair , that is how they defend the Islam image!
It is halal for him to do that , while haram for me to walk freely and safely with my exposed hair though I don't wear seductive clothes at all!
In Egypt 50 ys ago at the time the women wear the minis and the micros with half of their breasts exposed , and no one dared to haress them , on contrary they used to ride public transport means with those clothes feeling safe, while nowadays , almost all of the girls r veiled or even monquabat and the sexual haressments r very epidemic.. !

that's nothing compared to what nawal sadawi said about god, it's so farfetched i really laughed my head off, she says, god is spirit and spirit in arabic is feminine and so many things in the koran are wrong, for example, she says, we should be saying instead of 2ol howa allah a7ad, 2ol heya allah a7ad..

she's a hypocrite.
she speaks without shame about higab , saying it isnt a must.
a sheikh who isnt very famous appeared in al qahera al youm . amr adeeb asked him, if a woman doesnt wear the higab, is she going to go to hell ?
the sheikh said, God doesnt count things like us. the higab should be worn, but if it isnt, the woman 's virtues and vices will b e weighed in a way we dont know. so it's possible she will go to heaven if her hassanat are more than her saye'aat.
this is it. the higab is a wageb, but if a woman is a good moslem in everything else , PERHAPS GOD will forgive her. but she has to ADMIT THE NECESSITY OF HIGAB, ie, not to say what eqbal says, but says , i will try, may God forgive me.
this woman is secular and wishes to apply her secular attitude to Islam. and she isnt a fool, so she is what is mentioned in SURET AL TAWBA, al munafiquun .
