The horn in my Mitsubishi Galant 2001 is not working. Any idea on how expensive this would be to repair? Can I do it myself? The way it broke was the horn got stuck as I was driving and I was scaring people so I started pounding on the horn and it eventually stopped.(for good)

Thanks

Sounds like a wire grounded out. You can buy a new horn and rewire it.....but it is easier to yell at people and give them the finger

Chances are it was not the horn itself. Chances are it is the relay that is turned on by the horn button you push. If it were me (having some reasonable mechanical and electrical skills) I would go into an auto parts place that is friendly and has a good return policy and tell them you want to buy a relay for the horn. I would ask them to come out to my car and point to where the old one is and how it is attached. I would then go home and swap out the old one and see if the horn worked. If not I would go back there and get a horn and do the same thing of finding where it goes and what holds it on and what wires go to it. Even if you had to buy both you would still come out ahead on cost and speed of repair.

yes.. if what you did stopped the horn from blowing just repair/replace the horn contacts in the wheel

did you beat on the horn under the hood or the steering wheel?

It may be a fuse too. Start with the most simple, then move forward.
