My fish has somehow lit itself a campfire to keep it warm, can you explain how it could possibly do this?

The fish could already have been on fire, or smoldering, and a spark lit the campfire beneath it. This would work especially well if the fish were made out of wood.

Your fish is a pyro. The way it lit a fire it plopped out of the water and used its pyro skills.

According to Austin Powers there are sharks with "laser beams". Perhaps your fish has these and thats how it started the fire. Either that or it is psychokinetic!
