I just started TTC & I have been reading about checking your cervix, CM, BBT, etc. for signs of fertility. I have been checking myself for a few weeks now and just need some experienced women's input.

Could someone graphically describe for me how an open cervix feels different than a closed cervix?? How large is open? Does a closed cervix still feel "a bit open'? Descriptions like size of pencil lead, stirring straw opening, drinking straw opening, lifesaver hole size opening, etc. would be wonderful!!

It depends on whether or not you have ever had a child before or if you have ever had your cervix dilated for a procedure such as an abortion or D&C.

Closed, I would say your cervix os feels more like an indentation than a hole, and when open for ovulation, I would guess, the size of a q-tip.

I can put the tip of my finger in mine. That's how I can tell if it is open or not.
