Thats the old ESPN Pac-10 and Big-10 bias. You see ESPN owns ABC so they heavily promote Pac-10 and Big-10 because they have contracts to show Pac-10, Big-10, and Notre Dame games. They in turn promote those schools as the best so people will be more likely to tune in to watch the games, which equals better ratings, which means more revenue for ABC/ESPN.
Thats why you never rarely hear ESPN promote the SEC, BIG12, ACC, or BIGEAST. Because they don't own those contracts to show those games; so they don't want to promote them so you don't turn the TV to a different channel.
Here's the ABC TV Schedule for this year...
September 1: Tennessee (SEC) at California (PAC10)
September 15: Southern California (PAC10) at Nebraska (BIG12)
September 22: Iowa (BIG10) at Wisconsin (BIG10)
September 22: Washington State (PAC10) at Southern California (PAC10)
September 29: Ohio State (BIG10) at Minnesota (BIG10)
September 29: Southern California (PAC10) at Washington (PAC10)
October 6: Notre Dame (Ind) at UCLA (PAC10)
October 6: Ohio State (BIG10) at Purdue (BIG10)
October 20: Michigan (BIG10) at Illinois (BIG10)
October 27: Ohio State (BIG10) at Penn State (BIG10)
November 3: Oregon State (PAC10) at Southern California (PAC10)
November 10: Southern California (PAC10) at California (PAC10)
Thats why schools ESPN pushed a Ohio State/Michigan rematch last year...why they always say USC should be number one. And why they heavily push Cal and Notre Dame as a national power, even though they aren't. That being said USC is the most talented team in the country and Michigan is second or third.
But still last year when Florida won the National Championship game, Sportscenter hardly talked about it...had it been Ohio State. They would have run a 30 minute sportscenter special placing OSU as one of the greatest teams of all time. Not promoting consipracy here...SEC, ACC, and BIG EAST will gets its share of props but they devote a lot more time and credit to the Big10/Pac10.

I guess that would mean that ESPN. MSNBC, the Associated Press, the coaches that participate in the USA Today poll, CBS and Yahoo must be getting paid by them too, because they ALL have USC number one. And sorry, I have to respond to one of the answerers. Of course USC wouldn't be USC if they were in Billings. Funny how everyone says USC gets all the good players because of the good weather. I guess that's why the University of Hawaii has been so good, too. UCLA has the same weather as well. Do they have an advantage because of the weather? Probably a little bit, but if you follow that logic, you would never see a team from a cold state ever compete. USC gets the better players also because they are a well storied program that gets a ton of attention, and they're in a good strong conference. Years ago, players flocked to the Big 10 because it was huge. For years. Notre Dame has attracted top talent because of the history of the program as well. It's all part of the game. Bottom line is that these are opinions. If he said the same thing about LSU or Texas, would you question it?

If he does he's one of the few.. ..Hey km123 and artistictrophy if the Pac10 is "very good" and a "good strong conference" why do they have a losing record against every other major conference. And I believe there are quite a few teams that would dare to play the condoms. Do you believe you are so great everyone would be afraid to step on the field with you? USC does have a good team. But don't make them out to be football gods. Because there is no such thing. Even if all you Hollywood dreamers think there is.. ..

Lol! Take it and like it you whining losers.
PAC 10 is a very good conference and USC is a great team (although not the best ever...I mean that is just a retarded thing to say). Complaining has not and never will get SC haters anywhere. Fight on! and see you on the field if you dare to play the Trojans.

The entire sports journalism world is scared of saying anything bad about the condom team (trojans). I even called out Brian on FOX news about his backing down about investigating the Reggie Bush issues and I haven't heard as much a whimper. They are ALL SCARED to mess with USC.

PAC-10 sucks
USC sucks
Players only go to USC for the weather, LA, and the babes, and the worship. (no wonder there called Trojans you'll need protection when you rape the press into submission)
If USC was in Billings, Montana they would never be a top team.

He might as well be, they pay their players to come there. Some players refuse to leave for the BFL because they will have to take a pay cut. Also, Keith Jackson is even worse than May. I've listened to him slobber all over USC for almost 40 years!

I'm amazed that Mark May is being paid by anybody, he's nearly as irritating as Lou Holtz.
