There are holes about the size of a dime bit into my tomatoes both ripe and unripe. It does not appear to be attacking the leaves or stems. I have not caught any critters in the act of tomato sabatoge, but if I do, boy are they going to get it!! Does anyone know what could be the possible invader? I did see a dark green spotted caterpiller on the stalk of the plant two weeks ago. I relocated him out of my garden. Could it be caterpillers or some other critter? What would be the best to do? I would like to enjoy as many tomatoes as I can before the end of the summer.

It's a tomato worm! Look for it it's a green fat worm that matches the leaves colour , look on the stems or either on top or under the leaves ,it might take you a bit of time but you will find it ! Yuck!!

Same here!
They are really pissing me off. I have lost about 12 tomato's because of the bite marks.
I think honestly it is squirrels. I caught them late at night hanging around the plants. I sneak up on them and they go running. I am going to put moth balls around the area. That always seems to help deter the critters.
No worm found here.

Seeing as how there is no damage to the leaves or stem work I would suspect it to be rodents or birds .Try using some bird netting and see if that helps.

could be grass hoppers, there is stuff you can get at a nursery whether its caterpillars or something else. Take a leaf to them so you can show them, you know compare dental records or something, lol
