The federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA, 15 U.S.C. § 1692 and following) bars collectors from calling you at work, harassing you, using abusive language, making false or misleading statements, adding unauthorized charges, and many other practices. Under the FDCPA, you can demand that the collection agency stop contacting you (except to tell you that collection efforts have ended or that the creditor or collection agency will sue you). You must put your request in writing.

Last time that happened to me (ages ago) I got the law that states no collectors are to call the debtor's employment. I then typed a letter saying that the collectors are in violation of the law (quoted the law) and are liable for civil damages from (and add the company's name) for which I have to testify in their behalf in conjunction with the phone recordings. I mailed them this letter and they never called again and the debt lapsed into oblivion.

Try to make the payment as it will stop their calls and most importantly you will be saved from taking a bigger hit on your own credit ratings. If you cannot make payments, tell them to stop calling you. You can record their calls and approach a lawyer. Try to avoid this as it will affect your credit rating badly and it would be very difficult to procure any personal loan, home loan or even a credit card in future.

take the call next time and get as much information as you can. Get the number to call them back, their name, their supervisors name, the name of the company etc...Be polite and let them know you are going to pay.
Then report their *** for illegally calling you at work!

The next time, have your employer state.
"do not call Mr. Doe at this number". Get their name/number and report them.
