He counseled the president to violate as many provisions of the US Constituiton as he could, under the auspices of Commander-in-Chief powers.

Gonzo deprived people of their Constitutional rights, under the auspices of the "Homeland Security Act."

Gonzo perjured himself before Congressional hearings.

If you haven't guessed by now, Gonzo is a Republican.

He is Republican. He was President Bush's Attorney General. The attorney general is the man whose job it is to enforce all the federal laws in the country, but Gonzalez was accused of breaking many laws himself. Wiretapping without a court order, imprisoning people without charges or access to a lawyer, authorizing torture in foreign prisons, lots of bad stuff like that.

Congress has 'oversight' responsibility for the executive branch, but the Bush administration and Congress disagreed on whether or not they could subpoena Gonzales to testify before a committee. When he finally did testify he just claimed not to remember anything, and nobody believed him. Finally he resigned to avoid having to testify again (and perhaps go to jail). But he can still be subpoenaed, so he might go to jail anyway.

...... oh boy... I actually hope you are either trolling or very very young.. I'd hate to think you were of voting age and that behind in current events... and if you are going to try and catch up.. don't do it here.. pick other medias.. not Y!A.

We can only speculate as to why he resigned.. there could be many, many reasons... and he is a Republican appointed by Bush to the post of Attorney General.. his resignation is official on September 14th I believe.

Edit: Y!A is not a resource.. it's a meat house.

its the liberal witchhunt that russ feingold organized...what he "did" is his job which was to dismiss , i believe it was nine, federal prosecutors. clinton dismissed 93 but he somehow gets a pass. what the difference is is gonzales is a conservative. you can fill in the blankes.
