I'm in my 39th week of pregnancy, at my last doctor's appointment he told me I wasn't even dialated yet. I've been having some really sharp pains in my vaginal area, which my sister says might be my cervix dialating, but I won't know till my next dr. appointment on Thursday. I'm so miserable and want this baby to come soon! We live in WV where it's been pretty hot lately and I sweat like a disgusting pig by just walking outside. I can't handle the pains anymore!

My father-in-law believes in the "full moon" idea and my mother-in-law says it'll happen when the barometric pressure drops. Does anyone know anything about these???

I know there's a full moon tonight, but have no clue about barometric pressure! PLEASE help me!

i don't know the science behind it... but hospitals seems to fill up with women in labor on full moons (and new moons, too, i think). it's kinda freaky.

Both are wives tales pretty much, although some people can go into labor during phenomenal events I'm 99% sure they would have had same timing had the moon be new or just a sliver up there.

Barametric pressure can affect you physically but unless you feel symptoms liek migraines during barometric chagnes odds are you are not a "sensitive " enough person to be affected by it

The pains can be your cervix dialating, ti could also be your baby bouncing there little head off of your cervix, it could also be from all the fluids that pool there as well. If you have a pool or a big tub go for a swim the sensation of floating will help alleviate those pains and you keep cool that way as well. Another trick to help with pain there is to sit backwards on a chain so your legs straddle it and your belly rests agaisnt the back of the chair - im not sure why but it does help sometimes and when you lay down put a pillow between your knees (or thighs i find better)

Take some tylenol as well if it works for you

Good luck - it will be over soon enough and i wish you all the luck in the world with your new baby - when he or she makes there way into this world.

I'd say yes to the pressure if there were a hurricane in the atlantic! But, try having sex, walking, drinking tea made of raspberry leaves (not raspberry flavored tea-raspberry leaf tea!), having more sex, walking more. I know what pains you are talking about. It's the nerves down there-if you are dilating, then you're probably contracting a little. Maybe you can ask your doc to strip your membranes on thursday if something doesn't happen between now and then. the full moon thing-well, don't bet money on it! good luck!
