Well you made the commitment to play.....I believe you have to stick it out this season....let your Father and Brother know that its not your sport and you will not be playing after this season...but focusing more on Basketball

If you aren't doing what makes YOU happy, then what's the point? Do what makes YOU happy. Stop trying to please everyone else. People can say "don't be a quitter, tough it out."...why? Having no fun and getting beat up is the only way to grow up? That's the stupidest thing I've ever heard. I stopped playing because of frequent back spasms...it's hard to tackle when you have a lower back problem like that...So I had to stop playing...it was both no fun and painful to play...I see no reason why you should keep going with it if you don't want to.

Sports are turning into a separate society where athletes can't let down their parents, usually the father, because they don't want to be looked down upon. And the teammates could turn on them and call them a pansy or a quitter, as I see some answers are saying. You shouldn't worry about that. It's your life, it's your future. And if you don't want to spend the rest of your life with problems like arthritis from getting beaten all the time, it's a good idea to stop playing and just deal with things from there. Health and happiness are more important than sports.

If you're not having fun then that's your heart telling you that something is wrong.
My grandpa once told me when I was about 18 and I was going from job to job, to find a job that I love and I'll never have to work another day in my life.
I know this isn't answering your question directly, but I think you'll be able to read between the lines.

Just let your family know your passion lies in Basketball...you went out for Football and realized it was not your thing. If you have a shot to play allot in basketball go for it...let them know you really don't want to jeopardize your season by getting hurt on the field. All though I don't believe in quitting for those reasons...we all have our reasons.I hope you stick it out...hard work will pay off.Remember "That which does not kill us,only makes us stronger!" -good luck

What kind of person quits in the middle of something because it is too hard? Tough it out.

Sports don't build character, they reveal it........ Charles Braun
