I personally prefer to talk absolute rubbish and mess around than have a serious discussion - usually, what about you? And has it ever got you into trouble?

All, I use the Avatar because it cracks me up, I can almost hear the theme from Dambusters when I see it! What a pose!

I do both. Depends on who I'm with. I've given up trying to have in-depth philosophical discussions with my kids. They're 7 and 9. Very shallow. My wife is just the opposite. Always with her nose in a book. Big thoughts all over the place,try to chat,you get dragged into some big deal thing about pascal or whatever. And they wonder why married men like to go fishing all the time.

It all depends on what the situation is. Right now, i love to be light hearted and humorous and i'm a sucker for a really good laugh. When i talk about stuff like politics, i can be serious and every now and then, i'll throw in a joke or two. When i talk about stuff like TV shows and funny movies, i'm all the way humorous.
Has it ever gotten me into trouble? Not that i can recall right now.

Mostly serious, with a bit of light hearted banter when the occasion demands. So much conversation nowadays is meaningless.

It depends who I'm talking to. I tend to have serious conversations with someone that I trust and who is a good listener. But most of the time I like to joke around and make people laugh with my corny sense of humor.

Generally I prefer a blending of both in one, coupled with some extra light-hearted banter. This makes it easier to get to know people, yet also get closer through shared smiles and laughter.

I like a good serious chat, whilst wearing those Marx Brothers glasses with the false nose and eyebrows attached. My dad's brother-in-law takes top prize. He quickly put on a pair of those glasses with springy eyes for his own wedding photos! Great guy.
And I always get into trouble at work for using up all the helium.
