It's a Samsung U600 by the way. :-)

Thanks for the answers so far, it's slowly coming back to life.
It has, unfortuantely, got water in the keys.
What can you expect eh?

I am guessing that there was water in the sink.
If not I suppose its in a thousand bits now they don’t like being dropped onto hard surfaces.
I asked my best friends N. O’kia (Norman to his mates) and also Mobley my real little friend and they said try the following.
It’s very hit and miss with this problem.
Most modern phones circa 2000 actually have a piece of litmus paper secreted inside because people try to claim on their insurance for it being dropped accidentally in a puddle or the like and they can check on what it was dropped in this way.
The truth is its a case of suck it and see (as long as you don’t have too much saliva that is of course lol) dry it by placing in warm area such as airing cupboard or on a radiator with a towel wrapped around it and wait and see sometimes they revive sometimes they don’t. Taking the battery out is helpful as sometimes they short the circuit boards out but in general this would have happened at the point of contact with the fluid.
The biggest problem is that they are like your computer keyboards they have a pressure sensitive integrated circuits in the keyboard which has an live keyboard carrying a small internal charge.
If yours has an illuminated keyboard which most have it uses a small charge to illuminate the keys and this in turn activates the pressure sensitive keys.
The keyboard on your computer doesn’t like fluid either especially coffee and as you know if you spill fluid on it often the keys stick and in your phone this is likely to happen with things like detergent and stuff.
If they do they then short out the circuits and thus it doesn’t work any more.
So give the drying idea a go BUT don’t repeat DONT put rubbing alcohol into it this is a real bad idea as it may well short the battery and the resultant heat may ignite the alcohol and set your home on fire so NOT a good idea at all.
Good luck
Paul

my other half went swimming with his phone in his pocket last year.
He`d been in the pool half an hour before he realised.
He took the battery out, took the sim card out and left it to dry for 4 days.
When he tried it, there was some condensation in the screen but it worked. The only thing wrong with it is that his flash on the camera doesnt work.
Its a samsung D600.

So the way that the telephone organisation defined it to me is that if the paper on the back is pink, the telephone is comprehensive.. if it isnt then it could nonetheless be recovered. while you're taking the back off, there could be a touch white sq., while uncovered to unfavorable quantities of water, the paper turns pink! Sence that's extremely pink, im guessing that it could be ok.... merely flow away each and all the products out to dry! better of excellent fortune!

Take it apart with a Torx screwdriver.
Dry it out properly and then reassemble - the only sure way.
Use a hairdryer on the parts.
Just drying it might work sometimes, but it will go green inside and that can prevent keys working.

Pour a capful of rubbing alcohol into it. It sounds weird but when the alcohol evaporates it will take the water molecules with it. I dropped mine in the toilet a couple of months ago and it works just as well.

Try taking out the battery and leaving the case open to dry out for a day or so. If that doesn't work fear the worst!

YES YES YES! my brother threw my phone in the bath when he was in a mood. i took the battery out and put in the hottest room of the house (our cloakroom/boiler room) and it took about 5 days before it worked properly so i had had to just leave it, but it worked fine after that.

Remove sim > battery > wipe dry > spray with WD40 until dripping > leave somewhere warm to dry completely > job done !! :)
