Trolls on websites are people who just lurk around without really contributing or doing anything. Kinda like loiterers in real life. For a more accurate description & definitions from all kind of people, check out urbandictionary.com. It has tons of slang and phrases.

A troll is someone who creates several new Y!A accounts for the sole purpose of asking racist, sexist, or otherwise offensive "questions" in order to rile everyone up on here. An example: Vicky Butters. You can usually spot a troll because it will say their sign-up date was today.

I stay away from the lame Yahoo! terminology, but it is someone whose sole purpose is to disrupt resulting in multiple accounts per week and countless flags.
