Do you think Joba Chamberlain should take over Mike Mussina's spot in the rotation for the remainder of the season. And I've noticed that Mussina is good for only a couple of innings then tires off and then allows so many runs. And besides, Joba was a starter before he called up. YThey just didn't want to hurt his golden arm. Umm...... Mr. Cashman, he's fine! Let him Spot start and if he does well let him stay in the rotation.

He has a leginimate shot at it.

What about Ian Kennedy?

But, I think the Yankees best move is to move Joba to the rotation I mean just look at this mind boggling stats!

9 innings,

15 Stike Outs,

3 hits,

O.OO E.R.A.

If he can convert those stats to the starting rotation he will be the missing piece the Yankees are missing in the rotation.

hey! first of all, lemme say, i love joba. i do think that mussina should be out of the rotation, before every game he pitches, i basically feel like we're giving the other team a win. yes, joba originally was a starter, but remember why he was converted to a closer, becasue that's where we need him. we need a bridge to mariano. however, there is one more option to replace mussina that you are forgetting, ian kennedy, the third prospect. cashman was informed long ago that what he had in the minors was better then what he had in the majors (hence the promotting of joba) but he has not finished making the majors better then the minors, he needs to promote kennedy. mussina is pitching EXTREMELY ineffectivily, so why not let the rookie have a shot anyway right? i think that to get joba switched back to a starter will take some work, so over the off season, he can work on that and next year, voila, be a starter. i think, disgnate mussina for assignment and bring kennedy up. i was expeting to see this on yankees.com this morning, but it's not there, so it will be intresting to see who starts in 4 days. go yanks!!! 27 in '07!!!! I LOVE JOBA!!!

There are better choices to replace Mussina in the rotation. They need to give Igawa another chance. Putting Joba in the rotation at this point isn't going to all of the sudden turn the Yankees into the favorite to win the WS. I say, stay the course. Either we win it with the guys we've got or there's always next year.

Joba would be fine, healthwise as a starter. His restriction are just because he is relieving for the first time. It's less stressful to pitch 7 innings every 5 days than to pitch 2 innings on back to back days if you are not used to it.

I think he should get a chance to start, now. He isn't going to continue blowing people away like he has been because batters will get to see him 3 or 4 times in a game. But they arent' getting enough out of him in spot relief for an inning here or there and he's a hell of a better bet than Moose.
The future is NOW.

Probably not. He is only 21 years old, and his arm is not ready for a full stint as a starter. I think there are options the Yankees have in the system to start. I think Ian Kennedy should be brought up to get him ready.

I would take it slow with Joba. This year is already a lost year in a lot of aspects, so why push it. I think they are playing it right. Next year, he joins the rotation with Kennedy. Then they will have Hughes, Pettitte, Joba, Kennedy and eventually Johan :).

Red Sox fan:

yes, Chamberlain should take over, because Mussina isn't doing anything and it would get him alot of experience for next season. Even if the yankees don't make the playoffs, which I don't think they will, he will be able to be that much ahead in experience for next year. Take it from a Red Sox fan who has lived it, there is always next year, next year for me was in 2004, but for the yankees it might not be for a long time, so might as well give the young guys the time to mature. Just like the Red Sox did when they had their ginormous lead, they gave the ball to Lester, Bucholtz, and Gabbard, who wouldn't have been pitching in a close race. Experience really helps, and the yankees definitely need their pitchers to get some experience, because those old guys they got aren't doing anything. (Which is just fine for me!)

i wish they could start him . i mean, if they want to "protect" his arm because he is young then why is phil hughes pitching? theyre both the same age. thats what gives me a headahce

they should rotate him and mussina in the rotation, for an example, mussina pitches his next start then joba pitches mussina spot, like a 10 day rest for both of them which is good

Yes. because as good as joba is the yanks didnt become better since he came up. They were doing great before he came up.
So if he replaces Muss as a starter then the Yankees would wine games they would have otherwise lost.
B.T.W.
If Joba becomes a starter next year they will need to trade somebody for a good relieving pitcher.

We don't have the same concerns as they did with paplebon, get Joba into the starting rotation, and lets turn Mussina into Smoltz/ eck.

Great Idea,

I am a Sox fan. I openly admit it.
But I hate to say, Joba Chamberlain would be a dominant starter. I personally think he should replace mussy in the rotation.
