playing a video game with no educational purpose, or reading a book with no educational purpose (for example a comic book)? Which one do you think is the best waste of time?

Perhaps I phrased the question wrong, which of those three do you think has less value, wether its entertainment or education or something else, you pick

my first choice would probably be reading, however it occurs to me that at least when playing a game you might be improving your coordination, problem-solving skills, reaction time, manual dexterity and short-term planning abilities.
I don't know. Possibly you could learn a life lesson from the movie or get an idea that you could use in your real life from the book. Hard to say. What do you think?

I would think the video game. Only because most people would probably play for longer than the length of a typical movie (thus more time wasted) and I don't consider reading a waste of time. I read books all the time that serve no educational purpose. Entertainment is a good thing

Video games, but I agree with the guy who said that it's the purpose of entertainment - why does it need to be of educational value?

Neither of em. Movies, books, and games without an educational purpose rock! Which world are you living in?

I totally agree, using your imagination and creativity is a total waste of time. People need to be more diligent. I know that after a long 10 to 12 hour day of work I want to get my nose into a good academic book to unwind.

None of the above,

The purpose does not have to be education, the purpose could be entertainment

None of them...all work and no play makes jack a dull boy.....the mind needs downtime and play in order to regroup and make sense of things.

There's this article on speakingoffaith.org that talks about something similar.

Now if that's the only thing the person does...then there's a problem..

Reading a comic book, because at least your brain is working harder than it would with the other two.
