I used to be the same way, we've only been married for almost 3 years, but we dated for 10 years on and off but mostly on before!
He has no problem and in the last few months I haven't had a problem either!
But no, I don't really think it's a communication issue, some people are just more modest then others about their bodily functions!

After 12 years of marriage my wife has never heard me fart. Not that I don't have to, or often. But I just go away to to do that. I just assumed she doesn't want to hear/smell it. Same with belching. Although I did burp for the first time in front of her last week. It was completely accidental, just drank too much soda. Anyway, she turns and says, "You don't respect me anymore, you've never done that in front of me." it was an accident.
Not that this doesn't keep the woman from breakin wind all night while she's alseep. While she denies this, she wouldn't know cause she's asleep.
I just don't think a gentleman does it in front of woman. But don't hold my morales too high, cause I can't get control of the cussin no matter how hard I try.

do you want him in the bathroom when you r going number 2 i didn't think so that's how i look at a fart somethings just don't need to be shared with others unless you cant help it or have no choice besides its polite to leave the room i know some people think its funny and no big deal (men) but women need to act more feminine and not farting is one way to show it i don't think its a communication problem and you should feel 100% ccomfortable doing it but feeling weird or embarrassed is completely understandable talk to your husband tell him how you feel and than you will feel more comfortable after words but don't play the whole farting is funny thing it would actually discuss me if my wife did that and embarrass me if done around friends and family and for those who think its funny its not people only laugh because that's what they did when they were kids and now as adults aren't man enough to say quit it or just do not know how to be courteous of others because people don't go around saying mmmmmmmm i would think it would be so funny if some one would just fart right in my face so grow up because if someone other than you farted in an elevator and you didn't know that person you would be like omg

While I'm not afraid, I know he doesn't want to smell it, so I try to avoid it. I appreciate it when he goes of elsewhere to do it as well, so I don't have to smell it. Just because you've been married for so long and should feel comfortable around each other, doesn't mean common courtesy should go out the window. I feel comfortable around my clients and don't fart in front of them. I feel comfortable around church people, and don't fart in front of them.

Yes, except at the dinner table and in the car. Gross at the table and too much lingering in the car.
Besides, if you don't let it out, you'll get fart cancer.

I'm not married but i have been in a relationship for almost a year and i definitely do it in front of him...why not? Once you feel comfortable enough in front of someone all of your reservations go out of the door. He does it in front of me and i do it in front of him (of course he had to make the first move though..he had to set the pace). It's been five years and you still don't feel comfortable enough? That seems weird to me. Girl, let them fly!

I can't believe so many people don't?!? If a man can't handle me fartin' he just needs to find him another woman. I like to let them rip when I'm at home...I'm held up in the office all day...so when I get home I wanna relax.
And walking around or sitting around with tightened butt cheeks doesn't sound relaxing to me.
Now I don't go around blowing it out my @ss when guests are around...but if its just me and him? hell yeah, and I will forwarn and grab a lighter or light a candle if they're unusually smelly.

Lol…
We try not to, and if we must, we give a signal to each other… so we can run away!
But is funny because we always laugh and make fun of each other when that happens.
Is part of being together. What can I say…
