They were not perfect and did some horrible things.
Like the massacre in Tulsa Oklahoma of blacks for nothing.
Some guy started a rumor.
Men had a wife and a mistress. Men beat their wives and it went unnoticed because that was normal in that generation.
They did fight for their country but did atrosities to the Japanese. So just as no generation is perfect these men were and are the most misinformed people on the planet.
When they say never trust anyone over 50. They know what they are talking about. they put down the young people who actually question more things than they did. They blindly follow what ever leader is in place like a bunch of sheep.
Knowing the way they believe in God is right and they are perfect so man the torpedos and go blow up a small village.
Definitely a blood thirsty generation, who believes no matter how wicked they are god is on their side.

They were and my parents were in that generation. They suffered through the depression in the 1930s. They all served in WW2. The men fought the most difficult war since the civil war. I will always believe that they were the greatest generation.

And your point is? Because a few people did unspeakable things is no reason to paint a generation with a broad brush. Without the "Greatest Generation" we would all likely be working in a German manufacturing plant making helmets or a Japanese slave labor camp weaving baskets.

Oh, come on. Of COURSE they are still the greatest generation. They are still the majority and you can nit pick and find any flaws in any group if you really set out to do so. The good they did far outweighs any issues you want to use against them.
BTW, what have YOU done for YOUR generation?

They are the greatest generation not just because of WW2 or the Korean War.

Yes, they are still the greatest generation. They showed more courage and fortitude than any generation since the Civil War, and helped free a world crashing towards fascism.

You are going to anger the neocons who long for the good old days when:
1. It was legal to rape your wife
2. Child beating was common
3. Minorities knew their place or were put there
4. Gays were nonexistent (or just stayed in the closet as they were treated the same as minorities)
5. We had a real enemy, the russians
6. We had God in the Pledge of Allegiance (put there in the 1950's) and prayer in schools (see number 2 for the children who did not want to pray).
If only . . .

Most of the photos I looked at were not from the era of WWII But from years earlier than that.
Most of the photos were of racial prejudice. And it is the people who are of the WWII era who worked to overcome wholesale prejudice and lynching!
