why the segregation? why do harley riders hate crotch rocket riders and vise versa? from what i can tell crotch rocket riders are "wusses" and harley riders are "posers". i just started riding and i waive to everyone and have had harley riders waive to me so i dont get it. we are all on bikes and im sure when you break down you wont care who comes to help as long as its not Godzilla.

I ride a hardtail custom Harley that I built in my garage and I waive at anyone on two wheels. Who cares what you ride, as long as you are riding.

Obviously the "Segregation" of which you speak is as localized as that of the human race in the south 50 years ago. Some people just haven't matured enough yet I guess. Some do and some don't, no big deal. I try to wave a everyone but when your at a 30 degree angle drifting through a canyon corner it's a little tough to wave. I have owned literally dozens of bikes through the years of every make and model counting Harley's to Liter sport bikes and at 6'2" 225 nobody has ever called me a "WUSS". How can someone be a POSER if they are actually out there riding the bike??? Posers are the guys who come to Sturgis every year with a $70,000 bike in a trailer, put on a set of leather that don't have the knees and elbows in them yet and drive 5 miles park the bike then talk about The Long Ride They Had To The Rally. Whats your personal issue with Godzilla??? He's big enough to carry you and your sorry a$$ broke bike to a shop plus the view must be cool from 200' in the air.

I don't think there is actual hate. I've owned both, and I learn that the "dislike" comes from an age difference more than anything else. The Harley rider tends to be 30's on up and sport bikes 18 to 30. there is a bit of envy that we can get smoked by a 600. the other difference is riding styles. when I had a 750 Kawi I rode a little faster and my solo rides were taken fairly fast. My Electra Glide was taken more leisurely. and it was easier to ride 2 up compared to my Kawi. And Your right about the "we are all Riding what's the problem", I haven't had any bad riding experiences that were not messed up by some jackass, the bike was irrelevant.

Godzilla? You won't accept help from Godzilla? I'd accept any help from anyone, even Godzilla. Well, at least if he isn't riding a Harley, those RUBs are just poser jerks. Or if they are riding a GoldWing, live to ride/ride to eat they always say, what a bunch of chow hounds, I don't associate with those guys either. Now Suzuki owners, they are a special breed that I want no part of, I had a Kawasaki once and the Suzuki guys treated me like dirt, so the Suzuki guys can keep right on going, straight to hell as far as I'm concerned, as well as the Yamaha guys, who are pretty much cut from the same cloth, or is that rice paper?? Now Italian bike riders, I don't have to even worry about those boneheads stopping, stuck up snobs, probably on their way to the ballet or a coffee bar or something twitty like that anyways. They can drop the ol' lady off though if they want to, Italian bike riders get all the snatch. Jerks. If they want help, they better hope to hell another Italian bike rider is around cuz they can just kiss my asss. Now a BMW rider, those guys are alright, I'll wave all day at those guys or give them the shirt off my back, whatever they need. As long as they don't have one of those ancient old airheads, those old turds. Those guys with the new oilheads, they're getting to be kinda like a cross between an Italian bike rider and a Gold Winger chow hound, so they get nothing from me.

I worked at a Harley shop and we had no problem with Japanese bikes. However, I always hear Jap bike riders complain about how everything is HD and how they don't want to be part of the trend. It's kind of annoying.

The only thing I have against crotch rocket riders is that a lot of them drive like idiots. They give all bikers a bad name.

If a person doesn't wave back its just him not the bike ,Some people are just miserable and evidently he/she is not happy about what they are riding so they cant take a split second to nod are wave . Besides the majority of people on cruisers don't know one bike from the other so if a guy goes by on a Harley and doesn't wave to me on my Honda VTX1300 I know he isnt waving because Im not on a Harley how the hell could he tell at 50mph what Im on , That goes for any rider /peace

There are naturally different riding styles. It is hard for a fast sport rider to ride with Harleys because they have to fight going fast the entire time. It is impossible for a Harley to ride with a group or sport riders due to the acceleration differences.

The basic riding style make a division between the two types of bikes.

Another reason is Harley history and the hard core Harley attitudes. Historically Harley riders have been elitists. They have snubbed their nose at all other bikes other than Harley. Back in the day the only segregation was propagated by the Harleys. It was common to have people refuse to ride with you if you rode a jap bike, that is how stupid it was.

Today the Harleys are getting out dated, the riders are getting OLD and they are out numbered. Plus the Harley rider is a poser trying to be a bad azz biker living a false image where in the day they would stab ya.

I would have to say the average Harley riders is 45+ and works behind a desk (WILD HOGS).

The pyridine is shifting Harley riders used to be the stupid outlaw kids…today my grandfather rides one and the stupid outlaws ride sports.

We all can ride and have fun, repect each other, but that does not mean I expect a Harley rider to understand why I like sports and I will never understand the reason for a cruiser.

I ride a vintage 78 Suzuki GS1000 in real nice shape.

When I compliment the average, (from my experience) HD owner on his bike, he snubs me, and makes fun of my classic superbike.

When I wave at a HD rider, 40% wave back.

I have seen SO much more attitude on HD's than I ever will on sportbikes.

I will stop and help any rider on the road. But I'm becoming jaded by the HD attitude.

Granted not ALL HD riders are rude and disrespectful, but those that are wreck it for the good ones.

Sad but true nobody hate each other but those who want to ride a bike and dream about it usually have the most to say. It is not what you ride but how you ride that do count. And as for `Rockets` I don`t know. I`m 50+ and ride a sports bike and enjoy it and do know a few who ride on cruisers that are still young and they enjoyed it so what is the fuss ? If you do like like the freedom of riding a bike what do the make or model of the bike have to do who you are or riding ?
Just enjoy and do it safely

This could be true but the other day at a gas station i saw a motorcycle- gang- looking- dude talking to a twenty something on a crotch rocket and they were just discussing their bikes and the differences and why theirs is better i wouldn't say that they hated each other, but that they respected the other rider greatly.
