Join the choir in school. If they don't offer choir, join the band. You'll still learn about music and music theory. A good, knowledgeable performer is more likely to get a job as a professional singer, than is someone who can sing, but doesn't know a clef from a keyboard.
Try out for the school plays. If you don't get a singing part, take whatever you can, even if it's just a tree. You'll still learn lots about the theater, and acting. That's another part of being a knowledgeable performer. If your school doesn't do plays, see if you can start one. Even a simple one with minimal costumes and sets is a start. Or look for a community theater program that you can join. You can also look into Destination Imagination or Odyssey of the Mind programs. Both would give you a chance to learn and grow in these areas.
If you never get to the big leagues, keep in mind that there is still lots of opportunities in local theater.

Singing is a business just like any other. In order to make your business work you have to market your product. In the case of singers, actors, and musicians the best marketing you can have is a good talent agent. These are the folks that know the right people and get you the auditions.
Always remember that it is a *highly* competitive business. Don't get your feelings hurt if you are not instantly successful. There are countless talented performers out there who are waiting tables to make ends meet while they look for their "big break".
Good luck!

Start by getting singing lessons. I've seen idol, half of them can't sing. Aspire to a greater goal than that.
