i think it's expectations.
people voted for the democratic-controlled congress because they wanted some serious positive changes made. when the congress spends all it's time sitting around bickering over partisan issues and nothing gets done to move the country toward the change it anticipated, the party that was expected to do something different is blamed.
i wonder when people will realize it's the politics that's to blame, and not the democrats OR the republicans. if we want change, we can't rely on either party. every person in a congressional seat has used dirty money to get there and has a personal agenda in mind. no exceptions.

Wow, what an interesting spin.
It was pretty much 50/50 when the Republicans had a slight lead and I bet that didn't stop you from blaming everything on the 'failure' of the republican congress...whose approval ratings at their lowest point were still quite a bit higher then the current democratic congress' record breaking performance. I wonder how this will affect the elections in 2008. Hmmm...wonder if that democratic majority will hold after such incredibly dismal performance.
Furthermore, I seem to recall quite a bit of obstructionism on the part of the democrats when the republicans were in charge and trying to do 'the peoples work'. I bet you didn't mind their obstruction. Funny that you whine about it now.
So, good try there sparky, but it's your congress, their ratings and your problem.
By the way, surrender in Iraq, doing NOTHING to enhance America's security, amnesty for illegal aliens, constant attacks and endless investigations on the Office of the President and doing absolutely nothing of benefit to the American people is not the 'will of the people'. It's the will of the democrats. If it was the will of the people, the people would have supported their efforts. Get it?

It's close to 50-50, but the majority are Democrats, meaning that the Democrats win almost all the votes. Therefore, the actions of Congress as a group, are pretty much the actions of the Democratic party. Conservatives are mostly correct here. The only thing is that Congress almost always has a low approval rating, even when times are good, Congress and the President are from the same party, and the President has a high approval rating.

My theory on why Congress' ratings are so low is the same as why Bush's are so low. We seem to many to be "stuck in neutral" in Iraq.
In other words, most Americans either want us to go "all out" and win, or leave now. So the Democrats running Congress have also lost support (in generic "do you have a favorable view of Congress" polls) from the "withdraw now" crowd, and never had the support of the "stay the course" opposition. The same is true for Bush, but in reverse.
So saying Bush, or the Congress, is very unpopular is not the same as saying that most people favor the other side of the aisle.

The cons are well on their way out and they know it. The American people are seeing the fruits of their lies and half truths, and they have to grasp at something..anything. This is one of the few things they can possibly get away with for those with simple minds that they hope to court to vote.
They only need one more appointment on the supreme court and then that can put in their true agenda unimpeded for a long time....that's what they have always been after.

If what you say is even true, it's probably because when the Democrats won control they stumbled over each other to get in front of the media to boast about what they were going to accomplish now that they were in control. And what, of any significance, have they accomplished?? Nothing! So, quite naturally people are pissed off.....

I don't think anyone thinks that. I think most intelligent people realize the government has went amuck and both parties are pretty much up to their eyeballs in corruption.
I do believe that this country is about to have a revolution of its own against the establishement.

It is difficult for them to admit that they have finally been caught. The hits keep comming like a prize fight and they are being pelted by their opponent one hit right after another. So many things they are caught doing wrong and they are bewildered. No good news for them it is another caught you day after day. Instead of cleaning up their act they continue with the same stuff thinking they won't be caught. Pretty soon that one is caught too. I almost feel sorry for them. ALMOST.

If they weren't that stupid they would not be getting voted out of office. They are hoping to put enough spin on the situation to prevent people from noticing their responsibility. Now that the economy is seriously trying to tank everywhere, not just in Michigan where I live, I imagine we will here many 'brilliant' explanations and implausible suggestions.
