In their prime? I'd say Clemens.

I'd say Johnson in his prime, which was 1 or 2 years when he dominated. Clemens has been better for a longer period of time. I'm saying if you took Clemen's best year and Johnson's best year Johnson's would be more amazing.

i have to go with the big unit. when he pitched it was simply unfair. he was so tall and had a sidearm delivery, that many betters complained because they felt like the ball was being thrown from first base. and thats just the minor reason.

he had a fastball that would reach the 100's and in his prime was able to spot it reasonably well. now pair that with a devastating slider. against lefties, they would duck to avoid getting hit and it would end up a strike on the outside of the plate. oh, yeah, and that sick slider flew at 93 miles per hour. most pitchers' best fastball is at 93 and he threw the best slider i have ever seen. pair that with a decent splitter and you have guys whiffing all over teh place. the only way to get a hit off of him was to guess where the pitch will end up and swing before he releases the ball. clemens was great but johnson was the best pitcher of this era.

Total career value -- Clemens.

Best seasons -- Clemens. Rocket never had extended visits to the DL or some early-career stinkers like Unit did.

For one game at personal peak -- I'd take Johnson. He could have just enough wildness to scare the peanuts out of hitters. Clemens always had too much control -- hitters would know he could beat them, but they didn't have to swallow personal terror while stepping into the box.

randy johnson because of the way he pitches the way he throws them and the fact he is 6'10'' tall
