Diamonds do come in many colors (yellow/canary, pink, etc.) Green diamonds are rare.

The green stone in your ring is probably an emerald.

You can take the ring to a jeweler to have it appraised.

Yes there is such a thing as naturally occurring colored diamonds though they are far more expensive than clear diamonds. They come in pink, blue, yellow, green and perhaps other colors. Most pink come from Australia. Yellow has been found in Arkansas. I don't know about the others. It would be extreamly odd that the ring your grandmother had was a colored diamond, especially green. Go to a jeweler and ask what the stones are. I bet it's an emerald and 2 diamonds. That is very lucky because Emeralds are more expensive than diamonds. Personally they're my favorite and the engagement ring my wife wears is an Emerald and she is constantly getting compliments. You're very luck your Grandmother left you such a nice ring. I hope you keep it and enjoy it forever.

Yes, off course. Colored diamonds do exist.
You are lucky if you have the rare green diamond with you.

You're not supposed to use the term colored anymore: it's African-American
