Avon is far superior and less expensive. Plus, if you want to join Avon, it's only $10. To join Mary Kay costs hundreds of dollars so it's harder to sign people up. It's also harder to get customers because the products are so expensive.
With Avon, you just hand out catalogs and if people want to order, they will. In Mary Kay, you have to give a LOT of facials and pester your friends to buy.

In the past several years Avon has added lots of really great make up and skin care products. I have used some of them and would not hesitate to recommend Avon to you. I used to sell Mary Kay and it is excellent as well. The cost is higher with most of the Mary Kay products so you will save money with the Avon. The cheaper prices do not in any way suggest the lesser quality. You wouldn't go wrong with either brand.

Mary Kay is the #1 make up brand for the last like 20 years. Avon has cool stuff but for skin care and makeup mary kay hands down.

Avon is a lesser quality than department store brands and is very drying to your skin which causes acne and premature aging.
Mary Kay is a top shelf product at drugstore/Avon prices and is able to be affordable because they do very minimal advertising. The skin care is customized to your skin and the make up is amazing.
My suggestion is to go onto marykay.com, find a consultant and request some samples to try it for yourself. If you were to try the skincare and makeup you would see dramatic improvement in your skin 3 days, 3 weeks and 3 months later.
The cleanser is $18. and lasts 4 months, that is affordable.
Good luck and give it a try!

They are both good. I would probably go with Mary Kay though because the Avon I really prefer for skin care not make up but they are both good make up brands.

i have used both and now sell avon. i liked mary kay's makeup remover and one of the foundations, but preferred avon, and that's why i sell it.
avon has been around for over 120 years. something can't stay around that long and be awful can it?
FACTS:
national research has shown avon to be the top direct-sales company.
avon sells more lipsticks each year than any other company.
avon has hundreds of thousands or reps worldwide.
people think mary kay is better because it is more expensive. in life in general, you get what you paid for, right? the reason avon can sell at lower prices is that they have a much larger consumer base, across the globe. say MK sells 1 million in a month...and so does A. MK has sold considerably less product because of the price, and A has sold more units.
you can buy one MK eye shadow without a case for $6.50. or you can buy one A eye shadow in a case with applicator for $4...or less since they are usually on sale. or you can buy two MK shadows ($13) and the case to put them in ($8) for a total of $21... while two A shadows are only $8 total.
people who say one line's skin care is drying or harmful, etc. simply have not found the right match for them. avon has skin care lines for dry, oily, normal, aging, acne-prone, etc. there are at-home treatments for microdermabrasion and chemical peels. the anew lines have been compared in national studies to clinique and etsee lauder.
there is far more variety with avon. there are 10 types of foundation, 8 lipsticks/glosses, 4 kinds of eyeliners, 6 mascaras, and lots of shades of nail polish, which MK does not offer anymore.
avon also has a line called mark. for younger women, with great product and shade selection.
as i said before, MK is good. their cream to powder foundation is better than Avon's, in my opinion... but Avon overall is the better company for price and for sellers.
Avon start up cost is only $10, no quotas or parties or stockup required. MK requires certain sales levels yearly, and promotes selling by parties, which is time/money/energy consuming.
both companies are nice. you can mix and match. i have used both, as well as dozens of other brands. find what you like and stick with it!

As far as makeup goes, Avon is a great bang for your buck. Mary Kay may have more staying power but as far as mascaras, lipsticks and eye shadow goes I've had great luck with Avon!

I like them both but I use mary kay because I like their foundations better than avon since it has more color options and it hasn't broke me out. Plus I don't know any avon consultants.
