We have 2 small children and always take our own seats when renting a car as we then can be sure of the quality and that we know how to fit them correctly.
If you are only looking to use the car seats in the hire car in Florida rather than on the plane then the airline should be happy to transport them in the hold with your other luggage. This is a lot easy than trying to get on and off the plane with hand luggage, 2 children and 2 seats.
Just make sure all straps on the seats are tightly fastened and drawn in as far as possible. Some airlines will provide large plastic bags to protect the seats and load them with other fragile items but if you can find something yourself to wrap them in its recommended.
We've never yet had an airline try to charge extra for carrying the seats but if you are flying with one of the charter airlines its probably worth calling them first to check there policy.
We've used American Airlines, BA, US airways, KLM and Air France travelling with car seats for children without problems.

i'm not sure if the airline assist you to take a automobile seat into the cabin. If he has his very own seat he will ought to seat belted in the process the flight. as quickly as I've travelled with my daughter as a baby, i've got taken truly some activities for her to do on the airplane and snacks to maintain her occupied. I additionally gave her Panadol an hour in the past the flight is via take off so as that she would not sense the air stress in her ears too badly and given her a drink in her bottle to suck on for the time of take off and landing. If he would not have a bottle, a organic sugar unfastened lollipop additionally can help. 2 hours won't be that long on flights. you are able to continuously ask at verify-in in case you will have a window seat and placed him in there and you sit down next to him so he can't get into the aisle. Flying is relaxing for babies and attendants are oftentimes very powerful with mom and dad traveling with teenagers. desire you have a stable holiday!!!!

The seat must fasten to the airplane seat using the airplane belt. Then the child must be fastened in the seat. If it's a booster they will not allow the child to use is but he/she can just sit in the seat with a regular seatbelt. And the car seat can be checked or carry on luggage as you will likely need it where you're going.

Is this in the US? Here you just have to look on the labels on the seat, one will say that it is FAA approved for use on airplanes, if it is. If it says FAA approved, you're good to go. If not, you can't use it. You can't use booster seats (the one without a harness) on airplanes.
